Job Description

The Office of International Education at the University at Buffalo invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Asia Research Institute ( ARI ) . Reporting to the Institute Director, the Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in managing the Institute's academic, administrative and outreach activities.
The Assistant Director will:
Plan and coordinate Institute academic and cultural programs, in collaboration with the Institute Director, affiliated faculty and Institute staff. Manage program logistics and activities, coordinate administrative approvals; oversee / provide direct support for conferences, lectures, and other Institute initiatives. Develop proposals for Institute initiatives and projects in cooperation with Institute leadership; liaise with external funding agencies and representatives, and prepare project reports. Prepare budget requests and budget reports, provide fiscal oversight for institute accounts. Support the Institute Director in cultivating potential donors. Manage the Institute's website, calendar, and listservs; oversee communications, marketing, and publicity efforts. Supervise Institute personnel, including professional staff, student assistants, and short-term program assistants.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree, and five years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience to include:
Administrative experience related to externally funded or fee-based programs Supervisory experience or a demonstrated ability to establish priorities for work to be accomplished by others Event management Superior coordination and interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise written format Preferred Qualifications A degree in a field related to the Asia Research Institute's academic activities is preferred. An advanced degree is preferred. Our University Community Physical Demands Driving Requirements This position will never drive a university owned vehicle. Salary Range $70,000
  • $85,000 Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate. Work Hours Monday
