Job Description

TITLE Director of Institutional Research and Planning
DESCRIPTION
The Director of Institutional Research and Planning will lead the College's institutional research function, supporting data-informed planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement across academic and administrative areas. Reporting to Institutional Effectiveness and working closely with the CIO and campus stakeholders, the Director aligns analytics, reporting, and data governance with the College's data and technology infrastructure. The position oversees institutional data collection, analysis, and reporting; ensures timely and accurate federal, state, and accreditation submissions; and conducts research to support strategic planning and institutional effectiveness. The Director collaborates with campus units to provide data and analytical support and manages assessment and review processes for administrative and support units.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and organize a process for data/information project completion and delivery, including new, recurring and ad hoc projects and requests Collect, clean, analyze, validate, and interpret data from various sources including student information systems, surveys, and national databases. Oversee the collection of academic and administrative trend information and the analysis, evaluation, and presentation of results (e.g. Fact Book, Common Data Set) Perform routine data integrity checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across databases. Prepare regular reports for internal stakeholders (e.g., enrollment trends, retention and graduation rates, academic performance). Coordinate and support external reporting requirements to federal and state agencies, accrediting bodies, and consortia (e.g. IPEDS, MSCHE, NYSED, CICU, etc.) Lead, coordinate, and document the College's administrative and support unit assessment processes, including guiding units in defining outcomes and measures, collecting and analyzing results, and using findings to inform planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement. Support and collaborate with academic leadership and faculty on academic assessment by providing data, analyses, survey results, and consultation that inform program review, learning outcomes assessment, and evidence-based curricular improvement. Assist in survey administration and analysis (e.g., NSSE, RNL SSI, Cultural Climate Survey, etc). Promote data literacy among faculty, staff, and administrators through consultation, training, and clear communication of findings. Co-lead institutional data governance efforts in partnership with IT, including data definitions, standards, and stewardship models. Serve on institutional data governance committees in partnership with IT and functional leaders. Ensure data security, confidentiality, and compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations. Engage in professional development and remain current on trends and best practices in institutional research and higher education analytics.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of institutional effectiveness, accreditation processes, and assessment practices. Experience with survey design and analysis. Familiarity with data governance and data warehousing principles. Proficiency with data management tools. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate complex information effectively to non-technical audiences. Ability to work independently, and with others, to plan and organize multiple projects simultaneously, and to set and meet deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in educational research, higher education, behavioral or social sciences, or a closely related field required; doctoral degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research, effectiveness, assessment, or related functions within higher education. Equivalent combinations of education and significant, relevant professional experience may be considered. Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, statistical methods, and the use of data informed planning and decision making. Familiarity with IPEDS reporting requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.
