We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to investigate quantum correlations and many-body dynamics in quantum condensed matter systems using advanced coherent x-ray scattering techniques. The successful candidate will develop and perform synchrotron-based coherent x-ray and x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) experiments to probe nano-to-meso-scale equilibrium and nonequilibrium dynamics in strongly correlated materials, including charge, spin, and orbital ordered systems. The postdoc will also work closely and collaborate with the X-ray Scattering Group (XSG) in Condensed Matter Physics & Materials Science at BNL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning, performing, and analyzing coherent x-ray scattering experiments Responsible for disseminating research results in the form of conference presentations and publications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

PhD in physics, materials science, physical chemistry or related field Sufficient understanding of the physics of quantum materials Experience in x-ray scattering or related techniques Demonstrated proficiency in programming language, such as Python Excellent written and oral communication skills including writing academic papers Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in synchrotron-based experiments Experience in coherent x-rays or/and resonant x-ray scattering Experience in strongly correlated oxides Understanding of light-matter interactions in condensed matter systems
