Job Description

Represent the department and be a role model for incoming graduate students. Development Leaders will report to their academic department's Graduate Coordinator, Graduate Secretary, and to the Coordinator of GSO regarding the planning of departmental program activities scheduled for Orientation week and will work closely with the Graduate Ambassador in the department, if one has been hired.
Career Readiness Competencies :
Communication Leadership Professionalism Work closely with the graduate coordinator, department chair, faculty, graduate secretary, and current and incoming graduate students to develop a well-organized and engaging, department-specific orientation and training schedule. These activities are to be scheduled during the designated time blocks of orientation week Attend the Graduate Student Orientation training sessions (May - August) for development leaders. Attendance during the August Orientation week is mandatory. Participate in the activities of Orientation week by serving in assigned sessions, leading campus tours and providing assistance (room set-up, introduction and wrap-up) to the session facilitator(s) Serve as a role model for the department' s graduate students in all areas that affect life as a graduate student i.e., academic excellence, enthusiasm for BGSU, professional ethics, evidence of organizational and planning skills, dependability, honesty, and concern for the welfare of others Serve as a liaison to incoming graduate students throughout the summer to help them get acclimated to Bowling Green and BGSU Be enrolled at BGSU in a graduate program in the department of Mathematics and Statistics. Good written/verbal communication Familiarity with MS Office Suite, proficiency in Excel and Word Effective interpersonal skills Professional demeanor Able to work independently and collaboratively Good organizational skills (including event planning) Leadership Ability Enthusiasm
