Job Description

Conduct legislative research, including tracking of legislation on Legislative Data Processing Center system and analysis of bills and amendments. Also, researches issues of importance to the committee, Committee Chair, and Members to identify and propose new legislative initiatives for introduction as legislation. This job may be eligible for telework opportunities. Draft bills and amendments. Work with advocates, lobbyists, administration officials, and the general public to assure thorough knowledge of issues identified by the Chairman. Assist with the processing of constituent inquiries by conducting research, communicating by phone, drafting response letters, etc. on issues. Perform any legislative work-related duties as assigned. Research Analysts will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. Notification to Committee Members, attendance at Committee Meetings, and tracking attendance and votes. Ablility to collaborate with partners on legislative related needs such as Agency related duties. Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days. Bachelor's degree or significant related work experience. Favorable consideration for work experience and/or interest relating to the committee's issues/concerns. Strong knowledge of the legislative process. Strong legislative research ability. Proven excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively as a team player and individual performer to meet strict deadlines. Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint), PLS, SharePoint and LDPC applications.
