Job Description:

Woods Rogers is seeking to hire an experienced Patent Agent to join our dynamic Intellectual Property team. The Patent Agent supports attorneys and clients in securing intellectual property protection, including preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) member receiving offices. This is a full-time role, ideally located in our Tysons office, though the Patent Agent may be based in any of our offices or work in a hybrid or fully remote capacity. Required Qualifications Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) with significant experience in molecular genetics. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Exceptional understanding of patent law and legal frameworks applicable to complex patent applications. Strong legal and technical writing skills. Excellent research and critical thinking skills. Responsibilities Draft, analyze, and prosecute complex patent applications. Research and evaluate patent requirements and product novelty. Communicate with patent offices to address rejections or objections. Revise claims or descriptions based on feedback from patent offices. Maintain patent portfolios by managing deadlines, renewals, and strategic filings. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
