Description :
Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge in area of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills. 1. Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility. 2. Recommends changes in research, testing or experimental procedures. 3. May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment. 4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel. 5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control. 6. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action. 7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required. Key Responsibilities- Design, perform, and optimize transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM/SEM) experiments, with emphasis on brain or eye tissues and synaptic ultrastructure.
- Oversee and contribute to the annotation of large EM datasets and the quantitative analysis of structural features.
- Operate specialized EM equipment.
- Manage image preprocessing and data storage.
- Train and oversee junior lab members including undergraduates in EM-related analyses.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, presentations, and grant applications. Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, biomedical engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field (completed by start date).
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with EM, including both TEM and SEM, preferably imaging brain or eye tissues with a focus on synaptic ultrastructure.
- 2-5 years of experience annotating or analyzing EM data.
- At least 2 years of experience analyzing structural features from EM datasets.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience managing large imaging datasets. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming in Python or MATLAB for image processing or quantitative data analysis.
- Experience working with neuroglancer or similar tools for visualization and annotation of largescale EM datasets.
- Background in studying neuronal circuit connectivity or connectomics.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and mentoring students or junior researchers.

Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
