This position works closely with scientists, engineers, management, outside patent counsel, and international partners to support invention disclosure, patent filing coordination, patent prosecution support, and portfolio management activities related to advanced technologies. The ideal candidate has both technical aptitude and strong organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary research areas including materials science, semiconductors, electronics, chemistry, and advanced manufacturing. This role is best suited for individuals interested in the intersection of technology, innovation, and intellectual property within an R D-focused organization. Essential Functions Invention Disclosure & Technical Coordination Collaborate with researchers and engineers to identify, organize, and document new inventions and technical developments. Support preparation of invention disclosures, technical summaries, figures, and supporting documentation for patent filing activities. Conduct preliminary prior art and patent reference searches to support internal technical evaluations and filing discussions. Assist with organization and review of technical data, experimental results, and invention-related materials. Patent Filing & Prosecution Support Coordinate patent filing activities with outside patent counsel for U.S. and foreign patent applications, including provisional, non-provisional, and PCT filings. Support preparation and review of technical descriptions, drawings, supporting references, and filing documentation. Track filing schedules, publication timelines, patent office deadlines, and prosecution activities. Assist with preparation and organization of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) and related filing materials. Support review and organization of Office Actions, prior art references, technical comparisons, and prosecution-related correspondence. Coordinate communications and document exchanges with domestic and foreign patent associates. Portfolio Management & Administrative Support Maintain patent portfolio records, filing histories, prosecution documents, and internal tracking systems. Monitor patent maintenance schedules, annuity deadlines, and portfolio status updates in coordination with outside vendors and counsel. Prepare portfolio summaries, status reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials for management review. Support patent portfolio organization, budgeting, and documentation activities. Cross-Functional Collaboration Facilitate communication among inventors, management, outside counsel, and international affiliates regarding IP activities and project timelines. Contribute to continuous improvement of internal IP workflows Responsibilities are not limited to the duties listed above, and additional intellectual property-related support activities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, physics, electronics, nanotechnology, or related technical discipline preferred. Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property support, patent coordination, patent prosecution support, technology transfer, or related technical environments preferred. Familiarity with U.S. patent filing and prosecution processes preferred. Experience working with outside patent counsel and technical research teams preferred. Experience in semiconductor, materials science, electronics, chemical, or advanced manufacturing industries is a plus. Experience supporting global patent filing activities or foreign associates is a plus. Skills & Competencies Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects in a dynamic R D environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and organize technical information from multidisciplinary teams. Analytical mindset with interest in innovation and emerging technologies. Work Environment & Schedule Full-time position based in Plano, Texas. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with core collaboration hours between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flexibility may occasionally be required based on filing deadlines, research schedules, or project priorities.
