  • Overview
  • The Auburn University Bee Center is looking to hire an undergraduate student for a honey bee or native bee technician position.
The new hire will assist with bee-related research mainly outdoors under typical (hot and humid) Alabama conditions although some laboratory work is also expected. The technician will encounter stinging insects. An interest in insects/plants is preferred. The new hire should have an eagerness to learn new skills and the ability to work in often difficult physical environments.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Travel to field sites around Alabama + Assist with field work including plant surveys & sweep netting + Process insect specimens for pinning + Assist w/beekeeping tasks such as hive management + Build and maintain honey bee boxes + Collect/Enter data into spreadsheets
  • Qualifications
  • + Enrolled student at Auburn University + Interest in Entomology or related discipline + Interest in plant and insect ID
  • Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • + Valid U.S. Driver's License + Ability to work outside for long periods + Ability to work independently and as part of a team + Willingness to learn new techniques
