Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting an established, progressive commercial farming operation in Idaho in the search for an experienced On-Farm Agronomist. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated agronomy professional who enjoys being directly involved in production agriculture and wants to play an important role in crop health, quality, and overall production efficiency. The operation consists of approximately 2,000 acres, including 1,200 acres of commercial hop production and approximately 800 acres of rotational row crops, including feed corn, onions, and alfalfa. The operation maintains dedicated facilities for harvesting, drying, baling, and cold storage. The employer is looking for a dedicated, on farm agronomist to manage crop health and agronomic decision making across the operation. The On Farm Agronomist will work closely with farm management, irrigators, and field crews to develop and implement agronomic programs across both hop and row crop acreage.

Responsibilities will include:

Conduct routine crop scouting throughout hop yards and row crop fields Monitor crop development, soil moisture, disease pressure, weeds, insects, and other pest concerns Develop and implement fertility and nutrient management programs Develop pest and weed management strategies Write recommendations and oversee chemical and fertilizer applications Ensure applications are completed in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations Monitor soil health and evaluate soil testing results Work with farm management to optimize irrigation scheduling based on crop needs, soil moisture, and stage of production Track crop yields, soil test results, input performance, and other agronomic data Establish and monitor field trials involving new products, varieties, and agronomic practices Evaluate trial results and identify opportunities to improve crop quality, yield, and production efficiency Coordinate application timing and agronomic activities with farm managers, irrigators, and field crews Provide agronomic direction and support to seasonal field employees as needed Maintain a continuous-improvement approach to crop production and agronomic practices Utilize available industry and university resources when needed to research new or unfamiliar crop-production challenges The operation maintains a year round workforce of approximately 12 to 20 employees and expands to approximately 160 employees during peak harvest and processing season. The successful candidate must be comfortable working within a large, active farming operation and coordinating with multiple members of the production team. IDEAL CANDIDATE

Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or related agricultural field Hands-on professional agronomy experience preferred; employer is willing to consider a range of experience levels based on the individual candidate's education, knowledge, experience, and potential Experience with hops, corn, onions, or other row/specialty crops preferred Pesticide Applicator's License preferred; must be willing and able to obtain appropriate Idaho licensing Strong crop scouting, fertility, soil health, pest management, and agronomic decision-making skills Ability to analyze crop and field data and translate findings into practical recommendations Strong communication and organizational skills Self-motivated and capable of working independently Positive, collaborative, team-oriented attitude Humble, teachable approach with the willingness to ask questions, seek additional expertise when appropriate, and continually learn Continuous improvement mindset with a strong interest in improving crop performance, quality, and production efficiency
