GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
This is a semi-skilled position with emphasis on departmental operations directly involved with locating and inspection of all underground Water Resources utilities (water lines, sewer gravity mains, sewer force mains, and reuse lines) of the City of Ocala within the City's service territory. The Position also requires individuals to perform construction work relating to excavating pipes for accuracy. Reports to the Department Director or Desginee. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Ability to communicate with customers in person and over the phone regarding the ticket submitted by "811" as stipulated by Law. 2. Utilize various electronic equipment including probe rod to find and mark the location of underground utilities. 3. Understand the underground Utilities infrastructure. 4. Secures work area by providing designated traffic control devices in appropriate position. May be required to work as a flag person. 5. Maintains positive working relationship with department personnel, other governmental agencies, customers and the public. 6. Assists in maintaining an adequate supply of tools and related equipment needed to accomplish daily assignments. 7. Performs tests and evaluates new technologies related to location tools and products and makes recommendations for improvements to our system. 8. Availability during emergencies is required. 9. This work may also be performed under emergency situations or during inclement weather. May be called upon to assist field crews. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED is required, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Must possess minimum "2" certification in Water Distribution and a "B" in Sewer Collection or obtain a "2" Water Distribution and "B" Sewer Collections Certifications within four years. Within six months of employment/promotion, must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class "B" with an acceptable driving record and an endorsement for tank vehicles (N).
