Baton Rouge, LA GSRC is actively seeking resumes from qualified individuals to join our growing Baton Rouge, LA office as a Staff Biologist. This is a regular, full-time position that includes the performance of biological field surveys; assist with data collection and data entry; and the preparation of reports for a variety of natural resources projects. The selected individual will be part of the GSRC team supporting various natural resources projects throughout the US. The position requires the ability to work long hours in harsh conditions and travel will be required.
Responsibilities may include:
Assist in a variety of natural resources field studies, including wetland delineations, stream assessments, vegetation and rare plant surveys, avian and wildlife surveys, aquatics surveys, and wildlife habitat assessments. Use of GPS units Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, and other maps and tools to determine exact locations of project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms. Photograph and record appropriate habitat, species, and landforms. Assist project managers in data organization, interpretation, and report preparation, as needed.
Experience and qualifications for success:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related life sciences field is required, or proof of equivalent experience. Able to assist a wetland delineation crew in the field as Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Proficient skills identifying mammals, plants, birds, and reptiles Report preparation and reviews Able to work long hours in harsh conditions and have the ability to travel for days or weeks at a time GSRC offers a generous benefit package to all full-time employees that includes: GSRC provides health and life insurance benefits.
