Full-Time About Arden Cahill Academy Arden Cahill Academy is a private school serving students from infants through high school. We are committed to providing a unique, hands-on educational experience that extends beyond the traditional classroom. One of our signature programs is our equestrian and farm education program, where students have the opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility, and a love for animals through horseback riding and hands-on animal care. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Horseback Riding & Barn Instructor to lead our equestrian program and oversee the daily care of our horses and farm animals. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, has a passion for horses and agriculture, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming barn environment. Position Summary The Horseback Riding & Barn Instructor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the school's barn and farm while teaching horseback riding and horsemanship to students ranging from Preschool through High School. The ideal candidate will create a positive learning environment where students build riding skills, confidence, and respect for animals while ensuring the health and well-being of the school's horses and farm animals. Responsibilities Teach horseback riding lessons and horsemanship to Preschool through High School students during the school day. Instruct students in proper riding techniques, horse safety, grooming, saddling, and overall horsemanship. Teach students about horse care, stable management, and responsible animal stewardship. Provide daily care for the school's horses, including feeding, watering, grooming, turnout, exercise, and monitoring their health. Care for the school's farm animals, including chickens, ducks, rabbits, alpacas, sheep, goats, and other animals as needed. Clean stalls, paddocks, barns, tack rooms, and animal enclosures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe barn and farm environment. Inspect and maintain fencing, gates, water systems, riding arenas, and barn equipment. Organize and maintain tack, riding equipment, and barn supplies. Monitor animal health and communicate veterinary or farrier needs to administration. Ensure all riding lessons and barn activities are conducted with a strong emphasis on safety. Collaborate with faculty and staff to support educational programming and special events. Assist with the school's summer camp equestrian programming as needed. Qualifications Experience teaching horseback riding lessons or serving as a riding instructor. Strong knowledge of horse care, stable management, and equine safety. Experience caring for horses and farm animals. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform the physical duties associated with barn work. Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with faculty and administration. Experience working with children is strongly preferred. CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who: Has a genuine passion for horses, agriculture, and animal care.
