Groom

Boisvert Farms, LLC. seeks a Groom for work in West Baton Rouge Parish, LA. Job duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with horse breeding, semen collection, grooming and handling horses, stable attendant, tractor driving, water and feed horses daily, and overall equine care during horse breeding season; saddle and bridle horses for trainers; operate farm equipment; help repair and maintain barn, buildings, corrals, equip, farm, fences, fields, gates, horse ground upkeep, horse stalls, pastures, ponds, properties, roads, shed, ship and water troughs; general farm maintenance and cleaning; load, haul and unload hay bales, mow and weed eat grass. Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. Ensure arenas and round pen footing is maintained. Rinse horses. Clean up horse stalls. Grass cutting. Fixing fences, such as replacing damaged posts. General cleaning of buildings such as barn and shed, including small repairs when needed such as replacing boards. Cleaning/repair of water troughs. Tractor work may include bush hog, dragging, drilling holes, or moving hay to maintain property. Light maintenance of farm equipment such as light cleaning and topping up fuel, oil, greasing, etc. as needed. Mostly common hand tools are used, such as hammers, plyers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and drills. Occasional use of chainsaws, nail guns, chop saws when needed.

Tractors driven include:

John Deere 990, 5603, and 5100 Utility Tractor. Other farm equipment to be operated includes; Bobcat E55 Mini Excavator, T650 Compact Track Loader, and Skytrak Forklift. Travel between worksites in West Baton Rouge Parish, LA; Two weeks, twice a year, travel to Tulsa, OK and Oklahoma City, OK; three months previous experience required as groom, farmworker, or similar occupation.
