(B360™) is seeking a qualified Wildlife Monitor to support environmental compliance monitoring activities for a National Park Service (NPS) construction project at Gateway National Recreation Area - Jacob Riis Park, Queens, New York. The Wildlife Monitor will provide field-based biological monitoring for the Rufa Red Knot, a federally protected migratory shorebird species, ensuring construction activities comply with applicable wildlife protection requirements and minimize impacts to sensitive species. The selected candidate will support pre-construction surveys, active construction monitoring, documentation, and preparation of monitoring reports. Key Responsibilities The Wildlife Monitor will: Conduct Rufa Red Knot surveys prior to construction activities in designated monitoring areas. Perform wildlife disturbance monitoring during construction activities occurring near sensitive habitat areas. Observe and document wildlife presence, behavior, and potential disturbance responses. Evaluate whether construction activities may result in behavioral responses meeting applicable wildlife harassment thresholds. Coordinate with the Construction Management Representative (CMR), project team, and Government representatives regarding wildlife observations and required mitigation measures. Maintain accurate field records, including: Wildlife Monitoring Forms Observation logs Photographic documentation Location/GPS information Daily monitoring reports Support preparation of final wildlife monitoring documentation and summary reports. Ensure monitoring activities comply with applicable federal wildlife protection regulations and project-specific environmental requirements.

Required Qualifications Candidates must possess:

Degree or demonstrated experience in: Wildlife Biology Ecology Environmental Science Natural Resources Management Ornithology Related biological sciences Experience conducting wildlife surveys or environmental monitoring. Experience identifying shorebirds or migratory bird species preferred. Knowledge of wildlife observation techniques and field documentation procedures. Ability to work outdoors in coastal environments and varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to communicate observations clearly through written reports. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with: Experience monitoring federally protected species. Experience supporting construction projects requiring environmental compliance monitoring.

Knowledge of:

Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) Endangered Species Act (ESA) Wildlife disturbance monitoring practices Previous experience working on federal, National Park Service, Department of Interior, or similar environmental compliance projects.

Work Environment:
