Job Description

Salary:
$13.00/hr Performs semi-skilled maintenance work in the Animal Shelter as well as provides customer service to Shelter visitors. You can search for this position's full job description here .
SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the Animal Shelter and Rescue Coordinator. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures. Provide assistance to customers wishing to adopt an animal; escorts customers through the Shelter; responds to and directs questions regarding adoption or purchasing procedures. Receives animals at the Shelter. Provide care for animals in the Shelter including feeding, cleaning and monitoring animal behavior. Monitors conditions of animals and implements precautionary measures in order to prevent disease transmission. Cleans and disinfects pens, floors and related areas in accordance with established practices. Maintains accuracy of animal placement and identification in kennels and computer system. Administers vaccinations and medications as directed. Implants microchips and ensures safe handling of pets coming in and leaving the shelter. Assists certified staff with euthanizing animals as appropriate. Clean, maintain and perform minor repairs in the Animal Shelter. Cleans and maintains grounds around the Shelter and the office.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Assists with customer service in the lobby and on the phone when needed. 2. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or
GED. EXPERIENCE
Six months experience working with animals preferred but not required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
Hours will vary, u p to 40 hours weekly Rotating Shifts between 9AM-6PM June - September This position does not require a physical for employment.
