Job Description

Position opened until filled.
We are currently seeking:
A shelter worker to join our team and, under general supervision, perform all aspects of humane animal care duties to ensure animal safety and well-being.
Your responsibilities will include:
Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining shelter areas as assigned. Feeding, watering and bathing animals. Providing humane sheltering services in compliance with State minimum standards and shelter policies. Safely and humanely handling animals of unknown health and temperament. Contributing to the programs and services that support the shelter's live outcome goal. Ensuring the safety of animals and people in the shelter. Accurately maintaining all required records in the shelter's database. Assisting in unloading trucks, stocking shelter areas and storing materials. Maintaining facility and grounds in a clean, neat and organized manner. Varying hours Sunday through Saturday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm including holidays. Regular and timely attendance is required. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Safely handling animals, including those with unknown temperament. Adherence to disease management and safety protocols. Working with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities. Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some experience working with animals is preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Reliable transportation is required. Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
Work is performed in the City animal shelter; work involves moderate physical demands. Must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards and be able to lift up to 96 lbs. Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
