Seasonal Water Operator

SUMMARY This is a non-supervisory position. Primary responsibilities are efficiently and effectively conducting various general tasks as needed at JCSUD's facilities. Duties will include (but are not limited to) laying, maintaining and repairing of water lines, taps, valves, and setting and maintaining fire hydrants. This is a temporary position ranging from 2 -3 months with no minimum number of hours guaranteed; no leave, retirement, or health benefits will be offered.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works effectively with other employees to repair or replace water mains or service lines
• Set up barricades, cones, and other appropriate traffic control devices on public roadways when required, to protect employees and the public.
• Performs water service taps
• Performs preventive maintenance and may maintain office and field sites
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while performing tasks.

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. May be exposed to extreme heat during the summer.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Valid driver's license or ability to reliably commute to the work site.
• Work cooperatively with JCSUD executive management, as well as employees, consultants, contractors, and members of the public.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write the English language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to make mathematical calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
