Most shooting days begin around 9:00 AM; schedules may vary depending on program activities. Overview Summer Springboard is hiring a freelance Videographer/Photographer to document our pre-college programs at UC Santa Barbara during Summer 2026. Our programs give middle and high school students the opportunity to experience campus life, explore future academic interests, and connect with peers from around the world through immersive educational experiences. We are looking for someone who can authentically capture student life, engaging classroom moments, campus energy, and the excitement of exploring Santa Barbara. Deliverables will include cinematic 4K footage, polished photography, and interview content that will support future Summer Springboard marketing campaigns across web, social media, and digital advertising.

Key Responsibilities Student Experience:

Capture authentic moments between students throughout the program, including friendships, campus life, excursions, and day-to-day activities. We are looking for footage and imagery that reflects the excitement and personal growth of the student experience.

Academic & Hands-On Learning:

Document interactive classroom sessions, workshops, labs, and collaborative projects across a variety of academic subjects. Highlight meaningful interactions between students and instructors both on and off campus.

Campus & Destination Coverage:

Showcase the visual identity of UC Santa Barbara and surrounding locations through cinematic campus shots, scenic visuals, and excursion coverage. Summer Springboard branding items such as backpacks, apparel, and signage should be incorporated whenever possible.

Social & Vertical Content:

Capture or repurpose 16x9 footage for vertical short-form content intended for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and similar platforms. This may include recap edits, student POV clips, and "day in the life" style content.

Interviews:

Record engaging on-camera interviews with students, instructors, staff, and parents using provided prompts. Strong audio quality and an energetic interview style are essential.

Technical Requirements Equipment:

Applicants must provide their own professional photo/video equipment.

Minimum Requirements :

4K-capable camera (30fps minimum) Professional audio setup such as lavalier or shotgun microphones

Preferred Additional Equipment:

Secondary camera body for photography Portable lighting setup for interviews or indoor shoots

Photo Specs:

RAW photo capture with delivery of approximately 100-300 edited JPEG images per shoot day (varies depending on schedule and activities)

Video Specs:

4K video footage in 30fps or 60fps (Log profiles preferred)

Audio:

Clean, externally recorded interview audio

Delivery:

Organized file delivery via digital transfer or mailed hard drive (hard drive expenses reimbursed) within 30 days of the final program date Qualifications Experience in lifestyle, event, documentary, or educational photography/videography Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with teenagers, faculty, and staff Strong organizational skills and attention to file structure/naming conventions Reliable transportation to and from campus locations Must be able to pass a background check

Pay:

$30.00 - $50.00 per hour
