JOB DESCRIPTION
Position:
Secondary Interventionist
Job Goal:
The interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the areas of STEM or Humanities. The interventionist provides individual and small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. The interventionist is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance to the education team.
Supervision:
Reports to the building principal.
Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:
Required:
MA Department of Education Certification in any of the following: English 5-8, 8-12, General Science 5-8, Mathematics 5-8, 8-12,
Middle School:
Humanities 5-8,
Middle School:
Mathematics/Science 5-8,
Preferred:
Five plus years of prior work experience as a teacher.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provides high quality research-based instruction to individual students and small groups. Performs diagnostic assessments and ongoing progress monitoring for individual students Uses data to inform instructional decisions and maintains documentation of student progress. Communicates with teachers, administrators, and families regarding student progress. Collaborates with teachers, coaches, administrators, and families to identify best instructional strategies for individual and small groups of students. Participates in data meetings with teachers, coaches, administrators, and families to discuss student placement and progress. Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.
Environmental Conditions:
The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners and cleaning fluids.
Position Type:
