Job Description

About the Role Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Science Teacher to serve students in grades 8-10, teaching general science, biology, and chemistry. This role is part of a larger vision. Our students begin preparing for college and career pathways early, with many starting college coursework by 10th grade and graduating with up to an associate's degree. In addition, students have access to career training opportunities through our partnerships, allowing them to leave high school with both academic and real-world skills. We are looking for a teacher who goes beyond delivering content—someone who helps students think critically, solve problems, and develop the skills needed for success in college, careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship. What You'll Do Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in general science (8th), biology, and chemistry Design lessons that emphasize inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application Prepare 8th grade students for the Arizona Science Assessment (AzSCI) Prepare 9th grade students for ACT Aspire Science through targeted skill development and practice Prepare students for the rigor of high school science and early college coursework Build strong foundational scientific knowledge while developing analytical and problem-solving skills Incorporate labs, experiments, and hands-on learning experiences where possible Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Utilize AI-supported, adaptive learning tools to personalize instruction and support student growth (Khanmigo) Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction and improve outcomes Analyze student performance data regularly to drive measurable academic growth Collaborate with special education and ELL staff to support all learners Support students in developing study habits, responsibility, and academic independence Contribute to a culture that promotes leadership, initiative, and future readiness Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support student success Who You Are You are passionate about science and helping students understand how it connects to the real world You believe in preparing students not just for tests, but for life beyond high school You are engaging, structured, and able to make complex concepts accessible You are highly data-driven and use student performance data to guide instruction You are comfortable integrating technology, including AI-supported adaptive learning tools You value collaboration and work effectively with diverse student populations You are committed to continuous improvement and professional growth Qualifications Bachelor's degree required (Science or related field preferred) Valid Arizona teaching certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment (required) Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required) Secondary science teaching experience preferred Why Join Us?
