$50-$65/hr (Conversion salary depending on YOE; typically, higher than contract pay rate) Required Skills & Experience 10 or more years of systems engineering experience supporting communications or IT systems Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or additional relevant experience in place of a degree Experience supporting the full system lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, testing) Experience solving complex or non-standard engineering problems Experience incorporating security and resiliency into system designs Experience performing trade studies and technical analysis across cost, schedule, performance, and security Experience writing technical documentation such as requirements, specifications, and reports Experience briefing technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience integrating systems and managing external interfaces Experience planning, executing, and analyzing system-level tests Ability to perform duties aligned with Information Systems Security Developer (631) and Systems Developer (632) roles under DoDI 8140 Active Secret clearance Nice to Have Skills & Experience Experience supporting digital engineering or model-based systems engineering efforts Experience with modular or open systems architectures Experience supporting NC3 mission systems or modernization programs Experience performing SWAP-C analysis Experience supporting Air Force program risk management activities Experience developing cost estimates for systems or upgrades Experience training or mentoring junior engineers Job Description The Systems Engineer will apply broad engineering expertise to plan, design, integrate, test, and sustain secure, resilient communications and information systems. This role tackles novel, complex engineering problems; conducts trade studies and cost/schedule/performance/security analyses; supports digital engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE); and produces technical documentation and executive-level briefings. The engineer will help evaluate emerging technologies and architectures (including Modular Open Systems Architecture/Open Mission Systems concepts) to support modernization efforts, ensure end-to-end system integration, manage technical baselines, and provide risk management inputs aligned with Air Force processes. The position also performs DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DoDI 8140) Information Systems Security Developer (631) and Systems Developer (632) tasks/KSAs.
