Job Description
This is an 11-month temporary position with a maximum of 40 hours per week. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits. DNCR does not engage in dual employment for temporary positions; if you are currently employed with another State agency, State university, or the NC National Guard and intend to remain employed with that entity, you may not be considered for temporary work with DNCR.

The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is located 6 miles from Morehead City, NC, on Bogue Banks, and sits adjacent to Bogue Sound. A living collection of over 4,500 animals in 90,000 square feet of exhibit space attracts and engages over 400,000 visitors each year. The Aquarium is located in the Roosevelt Natural Area, a state park of maritime forest and wetland ecosystems. Primary Purpose of thisPosition:
The North Carolina Aquariums at Pine Knoll Shores is seeking a dynamic, efficient, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Security Guard/Greeter. Works with the Security Chief and is a member of the Customer Services Team and works with the Special Events Coordinator and Assistant Special Events Coordinator under the leadership of the Visitor & Member Services Coordinator. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: The primary responsibilities of this position are divided between standard operational hours and after-hours private events. In both areas it is critical to ensure the safety and security of all staff and visitors, the Aquarium facility, exhibits, animal collection, work areas. Standard operational hour tasks include providing front-line customer services to all visitors. Greeting school and bus tour groups, assisting with parking and unloading of groups. Providing information and assistance to visitors. Handling visitor complaints and problems; offering first aid as needed. Identifying safety issues. Maintaining visitor accident log. Investigating visitor accidents and injuries; opening and securing building at the beginning and end of each day. Providing presence in giftshop and admissions area to deter shoplifting and theft. Managing Special Event equipment which includes quality control of tables and chairs and linen. Cleaning, maintaining, and inventorying Catering Kitchen equipment. Coordinating inspection of Catering Kitchen Hood, fire place, etc. After-hour/special event duties will include anticipating event equipment needs and pre-arranging all tables and chairs; assisting event needs under the leadership of Special Events Coordinators; assisting in all tasks involved with event to include setting up, breaking down dance floors, tables and chairs. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form.
