Department Overview Proudly serving as Minnesota's children's hospital since 1924, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, is the eighth-largest pediatric health care organization in the U.S. Each year, Children's provides care through nearly 13,000 inpatient visits and more than 200,000 emergency room and other outpatient visits. An independent, not-for-profit health care provider, Children's has 319 staffed hospital beds and services available in all major pediatric specialties: emergency care; newborn and pediatric intensive care; outpatient and inpatient surgery; diagnostic services, including radiology and laboratory; and special programs in the areas of respiratory, cardiology, cancer, premature birth, adolescent development, child abuse, and epilepsy. Position Summary The Security Officer position is responsible for the day to day activities of ensuring safe and secure Children's campuses for the ambulatory and business locations. The officer will maintain a safe environment through routine patrols of the facilities, grounds, outlying buildings. The officer will respond to all calls both emergency and non-emergency as they occur or in order of importance, helping coordinate with police, fire, and EMS. The officer will monitor alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. This position will conduct security stands for patients and families at any off-site location as needed. DHS required: Yes

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology or Sociology preferred

Experience:

• Prior experience responding and intervening in emergency situations such as crisis de-escalation, intervention, detainment of suspects, reporting and investigating incidents, and enforcing organizational policy preferred.
• Prior security experience preferred.
• Administrative professional experience preferred.

License/Certification:

• Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Forensic Interview (CFI), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), a plus
• Must possess a valid driver's license (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Minnesota Fleet Safety Management policy)
• Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS)
• Must complete and pass use of force training within 30 days of hire
• Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire

• Ability to detect irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards and emergency situations.

• Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Ability to proficiently utilize detaining and apprehension tools as directed.

Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee's scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard.
