Job Description
Senior Accountant - Local Manufacturing Company Position Overview The Senior Accountant is a key member of the leadership team responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for a growing local manufacturing company. This role manages day-to-day financial operations, ensures accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports HR and administrative functions, and partners cross-functionally to drive operational efficiency. The Senior Accountant will also serve as a primary point of contact for banking partners, auditors, and insurance providers. Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all general ledger functions and month-end close processes including all relevant account reconciliations.
- Compile and prepare financial statements for internal review and external CPA review.
- Review financial statements for trends and investigate financial variances, inventory discrepancies, and any unusual activity.
- Respond to auditor inquiries and provide information for reviewed financial statements.
- Compile and prepare data for federal, state, and local tax returns; assist external tax preparers as needed.
- Handle tax notices, compliance issues, and follow-up with tax agencies.
- Complete annual property tax returns.
- Conduct various NetSuite research projects to support financial accuracy and workflow improvements.
- Assist management with budgeting and forecasting Banking & Cash Management
- Manage banking relationships, including responding to bank inquiries, supporting collateral audits, and assisting leadership with banking-related questions.
- Support management with cash forecasting
- Provide support and guidance to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions Credit Card & Expense Administration
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of all credit card charges
- Enter charges for specific cardholders and assist employees (e.g., travelers) with expense submissions.
- Serve as Amex Card Administrator and Concur Administrator, ensuring proper setup, compliance, and reconciliation.
- Insurance & Compliance
- Add new foreign customers to Allianz insurance program.
- Oversee all insurance-related tasks, including liability, workers comp, and property policies.
- Manage Secretary of State business renewals and maintain corporate compliance.
- Administer 401(k) program, ensuring timely contributions, compliance, and employee support. Human Resources Support
- Address various HR-related tasks such as employee inquiries, new hire setup, policy explanations, and coordination with external HR partners.
- Operational & Cross-Functional Support
- Investigate inventory issues in partnership with production and warehouse teams.
- Support cross-functional departments with financial insights, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives throughout the company to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred, not required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax basics.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite experience highly preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills: ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in HR, benefits administration, or insurance management is a plus.
