Opportunity Information The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accurate accounting of inventory transactions, valuations, and reconciliations, ensuring proper compliance with accounting standards. This role focuses on inventory management, including proper accounting for goods receipts, transfers, and adjustments, ensuring alignment with GAAP, and reconciliation of inventory data between Oracle GL and IBS (AS400) systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1.)
Inventory Accounting and Valuation:
Oversee the inventory accounting process, ensuring accurate valuation of inventory and management of costing methodologies (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, or weighted average) in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Ensure inventory transactions (e.g., goods receipts, transfers, and adjustments) are properly recorded in both Oracle and IBS (AS400) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Reconcile inventory accounts during month-end close, ensuring proper documentation and analysis of any discrepancies. 2.)
System Reconciliation and Cut-Off Procedures:
Manage and oversee the reconciliation process between IBS (AS400) and Oracle GL, ensuring that inventory data is accurately transferred between systems, especially during month-end close. Ensure proper cut-off procedures are followed to ensure that inventory transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period in both systems. 3.)
Inventory Data Tracking and Reporting:
Collaborate closely with supply chain and operations teams to ensure accurate inventory data tracking and reporting. Manage and analyze provisions for excess, obsolescence, and shrinkage, ensuring proper accounting for these factors in line with company policies. 4.)
Process Improvement and Automation:
Continuously assess and improve inventory accounting processes, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, accuracy, and alignment between the IBS (AS400) and Oracle systems. Drive automation initiatives within the inventory accounting process to reduce manual effort, enhance accuracy, and streamline reporting across financial systems. 5.)
Audit Coordination and Compliance:
Manage internal and external audit requests related to inventory accounting, ensuring that all supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with auditing standards. Lead internal control audits focused on inventory accounting, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations. 6.)
Inventory Financial Statement Disclosures:
Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring that all inventory-related disclosures are accurate and comply with GAAP. Ensure proper presentation of inventory-related balances on the balance sheet and provide necessary inventory footnote disclosures. 7.)
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with FP&A, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory forecasting and reporting. Provide guidance and support on inventory accounting matters related to new projects, contracts, or product lines.
