Job Description

Matertial Handling Systems is seeking a Senior Crane Technician who is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing advanced inspections, maintenance, repairs, and modernization of crane systems, including overhead, gantry, and mobile cranes. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation. This role will be based out of a satellite Tampa location , with day-to-day oversight from the Branch Manager in Orlando.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Maintenance:
Conduct advanced inspections and preventive maintenance on crane equipment to ensure peak performance and compliance with OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and HMI regulations.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, including but not limited to motors, wiring, brakes, controls, and gearboxes.
Modernization Projects:
Lead or assist in upgrading and modernizing crane systems to improve safety, reliability, and performance.
Documentation:
Complete accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
Safety Compliance:
Maintain a strong safety-first culture, adhering to all applicable standards, and ensuring safe work practices on job sites.
Team Leadership:
Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering technical skill development and reinforcing quality workmanship standards.
Customer Interaction:
Serve as a primary technical contact for Tampa-area clients, clearly explaining technical details, addressing concerns, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or related fields preferred. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on crane service, repair, and maintenance experience. Proficiency with overhead, gantry, and mobile crane systems required. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Crane inspection or maintenance certifications (NCCCO, CMAA, or equivalent) preferred.
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, and industrial environments.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Travel to customer sites within the Tampa region; occasional overtime may be required.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$21.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
