Senior Diesel Engine Rebuild Technician

Job Overview Trantham Equipment is seeking an experienced Senior Diesel Engine Rebuild Technician specializing in heavy-duty engine rebuilds. This position focuses on in-frame and out-of-frame rebuilds for Detroit Diesel Series 60, Caterpillar 3400 Series, and Cummins ISX/X15 engines. We are looking for a hands-on professional with strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and proven rebuild experience. Responsibilities Perform complete engine tear-downs, inspections, and rebuilds In-frame and out-of-frame rebuilds Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines Caterpillar 3400 Series engines (3406, 3412, etc.) Cummins ISX and X15 engines Inspect, measure, and document engine components Install liners, pistons, bearings, crankshafts, camshafts, cylinder heads, and valve train components Set overhead, fuel systems, and perform final engine adjustments Diagnose engine failures, oil consumption, coolant loss, and performance issues Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tooling Ensure all work meets OEM and company quality standards Knowledge with C15 Cats, X15 Cummins, and Series 60 Detroit Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop Collaborate with team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles Emissions knowledge on trucks is a plus Experience 5+ years of heavy-duty diesel engine rebuild experience Strong experience with Detroit Series 60, CAT 3400 Series, and Cummins ISX/X15 engines Proficient with OEM service manuals and specifications Skilled with precision measuring tools Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to lift up to 150 pounds Excellent reading and writing skills Preferred Qualifications OEM certifications (Detroit, CAT, Cummins) Experience using CAT ET, Cummins Insite, and Detroit Diagnostic Link CDL or ability to obtain Experience with on-highway and heavy equipment applications Benefits Competitive pay: $28-$38 per hour Overtime opportunities Steady rebuild workload Well-equipped shop and professional environment Advancement opportunities Schedule Full-time Monday-Friday (shop schedule dependent) How to Apply Apply through Indeed or contact Trantham Equipment directly with your resume and engine rebuild experience.
