Position:
Senior Director of Quality Improvement Salary:
$120,000 to $130,000 per year (Exempt position)
Location:
Ronkonkoma and Riverhead, NY Hours:
Full-time, 37.50 hours/week; with evening and weekend availability as needed.
Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Quality Improvement is responsible for the oversight and advancement of innovation and quality improvement, playing a critical role in driving program development, continuous improvement across the Association for Mental Health and Wellness (MHAW) current and future programs. This senior leadership role requires extensive clinical experience, a strong background in quality improvement, and a deep commitment to Person-Centered Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery principles as integrated into clinical service delivery. The Senior Director will lead strategic and operational initiatives to enhance clinical quality, outcomes, and service delivery. This role requires strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to translate strategy into effective day-to-day clinical operations. Key areas of focus include best practices, clinical outcomes, service quality, regulatory compliance, and supporting program growth and sustainability. The Senior Director works closely with executive leadership, including the CEO, and collaborates with Program Supervisors, Directors, clinicians, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and fiscal/billing staff to ensure resources are effectively aligned to meet client needs. This role will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive continuous quality improvement plan to support program success, staff development, and high-quality service delivery. The Senior Director will also play a key role in strategic planning, quality assurance, and the ongoing enhancement of clinical services to meet evolving community needs while upholding organizational values.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Monitor and respond to cross-program performance metrics, including census, service delivery, regulatory compliance, and revenue Develop and submit monthly and quarterly outcomes reports Lead development and coordination of staff training initiatives related to innovation and improvements Support the development and refinement of clinical and programmatic service workflows and processes Oversee Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) activities across programs Lead implementation and ongoing evaluation of the organization's Quality Improvement Program Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of QI initiatives and outcomes Plan, coordinate, and evaluate QI training sessions, including curriculum development and facilitation Provide expertise and guidance on QI frameworks (e.g., PDSA, Stages of Change) and ensure staff competency Analyze training effectiveness and continuously improve learning strategies Oversee incident management processes, including reporting, investigation, resolution, and trend analysis Provide recommendations for corrective actions and system improvements based on incident data Ensure compliance with agency policies, regulatory requirements, and funding guidelines Conduct case record reviews and audits to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory standards Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to monitor program performance and inform decision-making Ensure compliance with all confidentiality, privacy, and data security requirements
Supervision:
Lead implementation of system improvements based on QI findings Apply leadership, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team-building skills to foster a high-performing work environment
Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited program in a relevant field (social science, health care or business administration) Minimum of10 years leading QA/QI in behavioral health or related service areas 10 years+ experience with monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on performance indicators and corrective action Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to mentor and supervise clinicians Strong technical analytical skills and experience in data analysis, validation, and compliance monitoring is highly preferred Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation, person-centered care, and recovery-oriented practices Familiarity with OMH and OASAS systems and regulations Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) Excellent organizational, time management, and technology skills Ability to work both collaboratively with multiple program offices and stakeholders and independently, managing multiple projects at a time Strong understanding of corporate compliance and regulatory standards Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively Valid New York State Driver's License and ability to meet agency driver requirements All full-time employees are eligible for our competitive benefits package including: Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage Paid Sick Time Paid Vacation Time Paid Personal Time Paid Floating Holidays Mileage Reimbursement 403b
