Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for our next generation of analytical instruments. You will be responsible for the full hardware lifecycle—from initial architecture and schematic capture to board layout, prototyping, and transition to high-volume manufacturing. This role requires a deep understanding of low-noise analog design, high-speed digital integration, and the rigorous regulatory standards required for laboratory environments. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists designing advanced instrumentation to support the development of the next generation of biopharmaceutical cures and therapies.
Key Responsibilities PCBA Design & Development:
Lead the design of complex, multi-layer PCBAs featuring mixed-signal circuits, FPGA/microcontroller integration, and precision power delivery.
Precision Analog Design:
Design low-noise, high-stability analog front-ends for sensors and detectors ( e.g ., photodetectors, spectrometers, other transducers) critical to instrument or sensor accuracy.
Schematic & Layout:
Perform schematic capture and supervise or execute high-density PCB layouts, ensuring proper grounding, shielding, and signal/power integrity (SI/PI) for sensitive measurements.
Prototyping & Validation:
Bring up new hardware, perform "smoke tests," and conduct deep-dive debugging using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
Compliance & Regulatory:
Design for and engage in testing for
EMC/EMI , CE , UL
, and RoHS/REACH/WEEE compliance. Ensure hardware meets safety and environmental standards for global markets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Mechanical, Firmware and Software engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and optimized product footprints.
Lifecycle Management:
Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM), select components with an eye for long-term availability, and support manufacturing during the NPI (New Product Introduction) phase.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience:
7-10+ years of experience in electronics design. Experience within the analytical instrument, sensing, medical device, robotics or aerospace industries would be advantageous
Senior-level Mastery:
Proven track record of designing and releasing complex PCBAs to production. Expertise in CAD tools (e.g., Altium Designer , Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics). Deep understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management in compact enclosures. Preferred Skills Familiarity with FPGA development (Verilog/VHDL) or embedded C programming. Altium Designer / Altium 365 experience Experience with DFx (Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test). Experience with working for start-ups and familiarity with new product introduction Our mission is to inspire advances in bioprocessing as a trusted partner in the production of biologic drugs that improve human health worldwide. Focused on cost and process efficiencies, we deliver innovative technologies and solutions that help set new standards in bioprocessing. The estimated salary range for this role, based in the United States of America is $130,000-$170,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, employees are eligible to participate in one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package. We offer a wide range of benefits such as paid time off, health/dental/vision, retirement benefits and flexible spending accounts.
