Senior Engineer, Components

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Engineer - Global Components will lead the development, qualification, and maintenance of components across all product lines. This role is responsible for ensuring that component projects are delivered on schedule and within budget, while also coordinating vendor relationship management in collaboration with the global supply chain. The position requires strong technical knowledge of product applications, concept development, detailed design, system performance, components functionality within the final product, system reliability, design for manufacturing, and general engineering principles. The work will be performed independently, and for assigned components, this role will serve as a subject matter expert, interacting extensively with engineering, product, quality, production, and supply chain teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

On time & on spec delivery of components development/qualification projects to support new products, product improvements, supplier risk reduction and cost out. This includes, but is not limited to: Investigate and analyze product/component design requirements and recommend optimum solutions. Lead components DFMEAs and develop component's reliability evaluation plans to ensure reliability goals are met Work with suppliers, other engineering experts, internal labs and 3 rd party labs to develop and execute component qualification and reliability test plans Review test data, interpret the test results, and write technical reports of all components study work. Analyze component failure data and lab test results in order to determine causes of problems and develop solutions. Provide guidelines to product engineers/designers on appropriate application of components on our products. Generate components/materials specifications and requirements Apply both standard and advanced engineering principles, mathematical models, and industry best practices to solve complex technical challenges. Exhibit strong mechanical design capabilities, with the ability to conceptualize and integrate innovative design solutions into products. Develop tools and guidelines for other engineering teams to implement engineered components (such as fans, pumps, attenuation, valves, etc) on products Support product marketing on products sustainability strategies Work closely with regional supply chain to align supplying sustainability strategies Remain up-to-date on technology advancements in the industry for air/water moving components such as fans, motors, and pumps. Participate in relevant Industry Associations.

NATURE & SCOPE

The Senior Engineer - Global Components reports directly to Staff/Senior Staff Engineers, or the Engineering Manager, Global Components. As part of the Global Components team, this role will have cross-functional and cross-regional interaction with all teams throughout the organization. This role requires to build strong partnership with suppliers, with BAC R D Lab, and will have strong interaction with external testing labs when needed.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS R

equired Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with Master's degree, or 8 Years of engineering experience with Bachelor's degree Great analytical, logic reasoning, and math skills Good organizational skills and attention to details Completes routine qualification projects or tasks with no guidance, and non-routine projects or tasks with minimal guidance Works independently as well as within a dynamic team with strong collaboration skills Strong ability to process test data, interpret test results, troubleshoot problems, and summarize the study with recommendations Communicates and interacts effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external testing labs Proficient in technical writing, can clearly and concisely document the details of any performed tasks Strong time management skills when working on multiple projects in parallel, and working in a fast-paced environment Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity

Technical Expertise:

Quickly understands the function, reliability & quality requirements for given components or product systems Familiarity with key function matrix (FBD) for components, such as fans, motors, VFDs, bearings, pumps, valves, etc. Demonstrated abilities in research resulting in application of technical information from the web, in textbooks, and in research journals/publications Hands-on experience of instrumentation and data acquisition systems Experience with coating materials and coating processes is a plus
