Job Description
Position Summary:
The Senior HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the service, diagnosis, repair, and commissioning of commercial HVAC and related mechanical systems. This position performs advanced troubleshooting of complex systems including packaged equipment, chillers, boilers, VRF systems, rooftop units, hydronic systems, building automation interfaces, and associated controls. The Senior HVAC Service Technician ensures all work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, safety requirements, and Controlled Air standards. This role is accountable for delivering high-quality technical solutions in a timely manner while maintaining customer satisfaction, labor productivity, and gross margin objectives. This position requires independent field leadership, professional customer interaction, and effective coordination with Service Management, Dispatch, Sales, Engineering, and other team members. The Senior HVAC Service Technician is expected to accurately document service activities, identify repair and replacement opportunities, provide technical guidance to junior technicians, and support the company's commitment to operational excellence. The Senior HVAC Service Technician maintains high performance standards in safety, workmanship, communication, and customer relations, ensuring projects and service calls are completed within established time schedules, quality expectations, and financial targets.Position Responsibilities:
Perform field service to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, start-up, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment and systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and Controlled Air standards. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication, responsiveness, and service excellence, serving as a trusted technical resource in the field. Identify repair, replacement, and system improvement opportunities and communicate findings to customers and the Service Department to support sales growth and long-term customer retention. Provide effective and timely resolution to customer concerns, ensuring system performance, reliability, and satisfaction objectives are achieved. Coordinate with the Service Supervisor and Dispatcher to prioritize, schedule, and execute service repairs and preventative maintenance activities efficiently and productively. Complete accurate and timely documentation of all service work, including labor reporting, materials usage, service tickets, and required customer communication. Maintain availability to support extended hours, emergency response, and peak seasonal demand as required to meet customer commitments. Mentor and train apprentices and junior technicians, promoting technical competency, safety compliance, and adherence to Controlled Air performance standardsRequirements:
Possess a S2 10 years license or equivalent experience. EPA certification Type Universal Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC systems to include but not limited to rooftops, split systems, boilers, chillers, furnaces, and heat pumps. VRF systems, AAON RTU's and some controls experience Valid driver's license Must be a US citizen. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
