Michigan (Field-Based / Hybrid) Team based out of Livonia Service Center Candidates can live anywhere in Michigan if comfortable with travel Approximately 50-60% travel across Michigan service centers
Duration:
Until May 2027 (with a possibility of extension)
Per Diem:
$550 weekly offered for non-local candidates About the
Role:
The Industrial Engineer IV will support the Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) group by leading operational improvement and transformation initiatives across multiple business units. This role focuses on waste elimination, process optimization, workforce planning analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting Electric Supply, Gas Delivery, and Electric Distribution operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience conducting field studies, and the ability to translate operational data into actionable process improvements. Key Responsibilities Support transformation and operational optimization projects across multiple business units Perform industrial engineering studies and field observations at service centers throughout Michigan Collect, analyze, and interpret operational and workforce data Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective action recommendations Lead or support implementation of approved process improvements Assist with workforce planning, staffing analysis, and resource allocation initiatives Collaborate with cross-functional teams, field personnel, and leadership stakeholders Track project performance metrics and operational efficiency improvements Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline Domain - Utilities/Electric distribution/ Gas /energy (Nice) 5-10 years of relevant industrial engineering or operational improvement experience Experience conducting process studies, field observations, and operational analysis Strong analytical, data collection, and problem-solving skills Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar Ability to develop actionable recommendations and support implementation efforts Experience supporting projects from initiation through execution Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Comfortable working in both field and office environments Preferred Qualifications Utility, manufacturing, operations, or field service environment experience Workforce planning or resource optimization experience Experience supporting transformation or continuous improvement programs Knowledge of operational KPI tracking and performance measurement Work Environment Primarily field-based role with travel to service centers throughout Michigan Combination of field assessments, operational meetings, and project coordination Travel expected approximately 50-60% Interview Process Interview process moving ASAP Onsite/field-based role with travel expectations discussed during interview process
