IPG Photonics has an opening for an experienced Senior Opto Mechanical Engineer to be part of a small, cohesive group developing robust, compact laser modules and conversion heads. The position offers the opportunity to work in small, multi-disciplinary teams, close to the technology, and have the support of a global, growing company. Responsibilities will include developing precision opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical components used in laser systems. This is a challenging, hands-on role utilizing a broad range of skills with complete product development exposure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and development of optical mounts/components and laser head packages Design from concept to final product including Layouts, Details, BOMs, Procedures and Test Plans. Build and qualify Prototypes Design tooling to perform optical alignments Perform thermal FEA Create and execute tests and tooling for design verification/validation Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs Create and Release Production Support Documentation Work closely with internal and external vendors Project Status Reporting May lead a team Requirements Minimum BSME required 5+ years experience in developing opto-mech devices and systems, or other related precision mechanical field SolidWorks proficiency Knowledge of various optic mounting techniques Functional knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes Efficient design and development organizational skills Clear Written and Verbal Communication Location(s) 50 Old Webster Road, Oxford , Massachusetts 01540 , United States Employment Type Exempt Wage Information
