ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY A
well-established, globally connected drivetrain manufacturer — backed by a Fortune 500 holding company with a 90+ year operating history — is hiring a Senior Product Engineer to own the intersection of technical engineering and customer success. This is a customer-facing technical role. You will serve as the face of the product for OEM partners, fleet operators, and specialized vehicle manufacturers — advising on application, troubleshooting in the field, and building solutions alongside customers in real time. You will work on proprietary transmission technologies including hydro-mechanical and infinitely variable transmission systems, supporting customers from initial application scoping through post-sale technical service. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Customer & Product Application Serve as a primary technical point of contact for OEM partners and customers — translating their requirements into optimum product configurations Develop and maintain a Product Configurator that drives accurate, repeatable application selection Partner with design engineers and external partners to develop product modifications, including control software Support Bill of Materials creation, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and quoting processes Field Support & Warranty Management Provide hands-on field support for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical service — you will travel to where problems need solving Create and maintain service manuals and technical bulletins that customers and service teams rely on Train customer personnel and internal service staff on product operation and maintenance Own warranty case management — from initial intake through root cause analysis, corrective action, and backlog resolution Operations & Documentation Author and maintain clear, manufacturing-ready assembly work instructions used on the production floor Partner with Quality to develop and track key performance metrics Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives — Black Belt or Green Belt experience is a strong differentiator Engineering Process & Development Define design and testing requirements for new product development programs Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on validation plans and design enhancements Maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation of design processes, test procedures, and results Analyze test data and drive design improvements to enhance reliability and performanceWHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or closely related discipline 5+ years of engineering experience in heavy-duty vehicle systems — axle, transmission, or driveline preferred Experience withCANBUS / J1939
communication protocols and vehicle diagnostics Proficiency in CAD software — SolidWorks strongly preferred Proven experience writing and maintaining assembly work instructions for manufacturing environments Hands-on experience with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes Strong customer-facing communication skills — able to translate technical complexity for engineers and non-engineers alike Experience with warranty case management and backlog resolution Programming experience for engineering applications (controls, diagnostics, or configuration tools) Preferred Qualifications Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or Green Belt) certification, or documented application in a manufacturing environment Experience with hydrostatic, hydro-mechanical, or infinitely variable transmission technologies Background working with OEM co-development or design partner relationships Field service or application engineering experience in customer-facing rolesWHY THIS ROLE
