WHO WE ARE
Precision Design & Build is a fast-growing residential design-build firm serving clients who care deeply about quality across Rhode Island. We've spent four years building a reputation for doing things right- fixed-price contracts, permit-ready plans, and a client experience that's genuinely stress-free.
THE ROLE
You'll manage 2-3 high-end residential construction projects at a time, from permit through punch list. That means owning the schedule, protecting the budget, keeping clients informed and confident, and making sure subcontractors show up prepared and perform at a high level. This is a hands-on field leadership role. You won't be managing from a desk- you'll be present on your jobsites, leading your crew directly, and setting the pace. The best person for this role operates with a constant sense of urgency: they're always thinking one step ahead, they don't let things sit, and they treat every day on the job as an opportunity to move the project forward. You'll be the central point between our clients, our trade partners, and our internal team
- with real autonomy to run your projects the right way.
This role is production-focused:
no design, no sales, just building exceptional work. We want to be straightforward with you: this is a demanding role. You will be managing multiple active projects, high expectations, and a fast-moving company all at once. The people who thrive here love that challenge- the ones who don't usually know pretty quickly.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Leading your crew on-site and setting the daily standard for quality, pace, and professionalism Building and controlling project schedules- and driving them forward every single day Identifying and eliminating delays before they happen, not after Running clear, consistent weekly communication with clients who care deeply about quality Holding subcontractors accountable to timelines, quality, and expectations Making real-time field decisions to protect schedule and margin
- without waiting to be told Managing change orders, documentation, and overall job clarity Keeping jobsites clean, organized, and professional
- every single day Developing junior team members while keeping the job moving at full speed
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
We measure success by outcomes, not activity. Here's what great looks like in this role: Projects consistently delivered on time or ahead of schedule Budgets managed within 5% slippage- you track the numbers closely and course-correct early Margin actively protected on every job Clients who feel genuinely taken care of and refer their friends Subs who show up prepared because you've set clear expectations A crew and team that gets better under your leadership over time
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Skills matter, but so does how you operate. The right person for this role is someone who: 10 to 20 years of experience in high-end residential carpentry and construction, with a strong hands-on foundation Proven track record managing 2 to 3 large residential projects simultaneously with a crew reporting directly to you Consistently delivers projects within 5% budget slippage- you know your numbers and stay ahead of them Has a solid overall knowledge of residential construction
- you understand how everything fits together Has a preference and appreciation for finish work
- you know what quality looks like up close and you hold that standard on your jobs Is comfortable on the tools and in the field
- this isn't a behind-the-desk role Moves with urgency
- follows up fast, closes loops, and doesn't let things drift Can lead a crew directly while managing the big picture across multiple projects Communicates clearly and confidently with clients, trade partners, and their team Genuinely great with people
- you build trust quickly, handle difficult conversations with ease, and leave clients and crew feeling respected Confident in their skillset without the ego
- you don't need to be the loudest person in the room, but everyone knows you know what you're doing Knows how to prioritize their time
- always focused on the highest impact work that moves projects forward, not just the loudest task in front of them Comfortable with project management software
- experience with Buildertrend or similar platforms is a strong plus Experience in a design-build environment is a bonus, but not required Experience working at a startup or fast-growing small company is a plus
- you already know what it means to build the plane while flying it
