Job Description

Position Summary:
The Senior Pump Service Technician is responsible for building, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing pump stations, water treatment plants, and agricultural water supply systems. This role also involves the occasional installation of mainlines, filtration systems, and related irrigation infrastructure. The technician works in the field under varying weather conditions, operates specialized and heavy equipment, and ensures projects are completed accurately, efficiently and to high quality standards. Senior (Level 2) technicians are expected to demonstrate professionalism, technical expertise, and leadership, often supervising and mentoring Level 1 Technicians.
Essential Functions:
  • Install and start up new pump systems, water supply systems, water/wastewater treatment plants, and irrigation systems according to project plans and specifications.
  • Operate truck-mounted hoisting equipment with telescope hoists.
  • Dismantle, assemble, and repair pumps, electric motors, hydraulic valves, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, plans specifications, architectural, mechanicals, electrical control, and P&ID drawings.
  • Perform field measurements, site preparation, grading, and installations of underground piping.
  • Install/fabricate irrigation and plumbing systems using various pipe materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel, plastic, cooper, ductile).
  • Use water level meters, pressure gauges, and testing equipment to evaluate system performance and diagnose issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems powering pumps and pump stations, using instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, and resistance meters.
  • Apply proper use of lubricants, sealants, oils and solvents in maintenance and installation.
  • Perform basic field welding, carpentry, and masonry as needed.
  • Contain, control, and clean up hazardous spills when necessary.
  • Operate hand and power tools, pipe threading and cutting machines, trenchers, and backhoes.
  • Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment on job sites and in vehicles.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers, foremen, and supervisors regarding job progress, issues, and needs.
  • Supervise and direct Level 1 Technicians on-site.
Occasional Requirements:
  • Travel to out-of-area job sites for multi-day installations.
  • Provide backup support to the installation department or shop as needed during slower periods.
  • Attend company training sessions and safety meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Above-average knowledge of pumps, water, and irrigation systems.
  • Strong mechanical, plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, plans, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of city, country, state codes related to water systems.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and specialized installations tools.
  • Basic welding knowledge preferred.
  • Prior experience in irrigation is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and work orders.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
  • Familiarity with basic plumbing, welding, or electrical.
  • Must have valid driver's licenses and a clean driving record.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a crew.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and professional in customer interactions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Regular bending, stooping, climbing, and working from heights or in confined spaces.
  • Extended periods of standing or walking over rough ground.
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina for long days on job sites.
  • Use of safety gear including; hard hats, gloves, boots, and protective eyewear.
Pay:
$35.23
  • $45.
59 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
