Job Description

Overview The Senior Survey CAD Technician produces and quality-checks survey drawings and digital deliverables for residential and commercial projects. This role supports field-to-finish processing, Civil 3D surfaces/contours, and construction staking deliverables while maintaining CAD standards and coordinating with survey crews and project managers to deliver accurate, on-time work. Responsibilities Produce survey drawings in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for residential subdivisions, commercial sites, and site development projects (topographic surveys, boundary drawings as needed for design/permitting, staking sheets, and as-builts as required).
Perform field-to-finish workflows:
import raw data/field codes, create linework, manage points/point groups, and complete labeling/annotation. Build and QA/QC Civil 3D surfaces (TIN), generate contours, breaklines, and spot elevations; verify surface integrity and accuracy. Prepare construction staking deliverables and coordinate with field crews to resolve questions and confirm needed information. Create exhibits/sketches for project needs (easements/ROW when required for design/permitting. Maintain CAD standards (templates, layers, styles, blocks, xrefs, sheet sets, plotting, and file organization). Perform QA/QC on drawings and deliverables; identify gaps/conflicts and communicate needed corrections to the PM/field team. Mentor junior CAD staff through redlines, coaching, and standards enforcement. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in CAD/drafting/surveying preferred. 5+ years of survey CAD/drafting experience supporting residential and/or commercial projects. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (survey drafting, surfaces, annotation, sheet setup). Strong understanding of topographic drafting and boundary drafting conventions used for development and permitting. Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with field crews and project managers. Ability to work primarily in an office setting with extended computer use; occasional field visits may be required
