SENIOR UTILITIES ACCOUNTANT

Assumes responsibility of monthly utility accounting, generates monthly financial statements and advances customer service and utility billing processes.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in accounting and at minimum two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given to highly motivated individuals with strong accounting and computer skillsWORK ACTIVITIES
Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations and financial reports focused on utility funds. Perform procedural reviews for efficiency and internal controls. Provide departmental training and perform cost benefit analysis for utility processes. Provide high-level utility billing customer service, collection, and problem resolution responses. Perform, review and oversee utility billing adjustments, meter change-outs and other facets of the utility billing function. Assist in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Provide knowledge and information to various City departments and divisions and work with outside auditors on an annual basis to gather requested information. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Candidates should possess excellent communication and organizational skills and display the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with administrative personnel, public officials, and the general public. In addition, candidates should have working knowledge of municipal operations and governmental financing, principles, practices, and techniques; including proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
