Job Description

Zimmer Tractor, a trusted leader in agricultural and construction equipment, is looking for a motivated Service Writer / Customer Service Representative to support our busy service department. You'll be the vital link between our customers—farmers, contractors, landscapers, and operators—and our skilled technicians, ensuring equipment gets back in the field fast and right. Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers—greeting walk-ins, answering phone inquiries, and providing expert advice on product, service, maintenance, and technical issues for ag and construction equipment. Open, manage, and close work orders accurately, including creating detailed customer files, documenting equipment details (make, model, hours, serial numbers), and specifying repair instructions. Coordinate and control service jobs from start to finish: schedule technicians, prioritize urgent field/road calls, arrange pick-up/delivery as needed, and track progress to meet customer timelines. Prepare accurate estimates and quotes for repairs, parts, and labor—discuss recommendations with customers, secure approvals for additional work, and explain options clearly to build trust. Review all repair orders for completeness, accuracy, proper charges (materials, labor, warranty), and compliance before final invoicing and equipment release. Assist with scheduling shop assignments, field service calls, and parts ordering to optimize workflow and minimize downtime for customers. Maintain strong communication with technicians, parts department, and service manager to ensure high-quality repairs and efficient department operations. Follow up with customers post-service to confirm satisfaction, address any concerns, and promote preventive maintenance programs or additional services.
