Job Description

Job Summary The Shop Foreman is responsible for leading and supporting a team of technicians in the service, repair, and customization of emergency vehicles while maintaining a hands-on role in diagnostics and repairs. Oversee daily workflow, scheduling, and quality control to ensure timely delivery of completed vehicles, and coordinate with customers to understand needs, provide updates, and ensure a high level of satisfaction. This role requires strong technical expertise, particularly with diesel engines, along with attention to detail, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service that strengthens customer relationships and supports the company's competitive advantage. Duties & Responsibilities Supervise and assist a team of technicians, providing guidance and support as needed. Oversee and perform routine, scheduled maintenance and safety inspections on gasoline and diesel equipment. Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to minimize disruptions. Diagnose all apparatus service-related problems. Determine vehicle conditions by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment. Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications. Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors. Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, brakes, and valves. Adjust brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment. Complete scheduled or preventive maintenance on trucks, such as hose testing, pump testing, and ladder testing. Assist with or complete repairs such as leaks and pump packing. Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed. Provide excellent customer service to clients. Act as a point of contact for coordinating with customers regarding technical aspects of their orders. Communicate with customers to provide updates on order status and address any specific needs or concerns. Monitor progress and address any issues that may affect the timely delivery of products. Ensure all necessary delivery documentation is accurate and complete. Required Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, uses, benefits, repairs, and maintenance. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of diesel engines and other heavy-duty vehicles. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams. Preferred Skills & Knowledge Prior diesel mechanic experience Electrical, A/C, and diagnostic experience Experience in fire and safety industry, specifically related to parts and repairs ASE or EVT certifications Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods during vehicle inspections and repairs. Ability to work at heights when servicing aerial ladders, light towers, and other elevated equipment. Ability to work in confined spaces such as pump compartments, engine bays, and undercarriages. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively. Sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to tolerate exposure to shop environments, including noise, vibration, fumes, oil, grease, and varying temperatures.
Pay:
$34.00 - $40.00 per hour
