Job Description
The Position:
Under the direction of the Owner/General Manager and as part of the management team, the Machine Shop Working Foreman is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the machine shop. This role provides direct supervision to machine shop personnel to ensure work is performed safely, correctly, and efficiently, with a strong focus on enforcing established procedures, documentation requirements, quality standards, and the ongoing training and development of shop personnel. The Working Foreman is a hands-on leader whose primary responsibility is to support shop floor personnel in being successful through clear direction, coordination, accountability, and training. Hands-on technical skills may be applied as necessary to support production requirements, address time or labor constraints, or ensure critical tasks are completed when needed.Under the direction of the Owner/GM, the Machine Shop Working Foreman will provide direction and supervision of the machine shop personnel, in addition to performing individually assigned and scheduled job specific functions. Functions to be performed and to supervise other staff include but are not limited to: Welding, soldering, brazing, CNC machine operations, drilling, boring and lathe and turning machine operation.
Hours:
Normal business hours are 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday. Foreman is expected to arrive at 6:50 AM to attend daily morning meeting to prep for the work day. Work outside of these hours may be required based on business needs, including but not limited to working late and on weekends. Normal hours are 40 hours per week between 7 AM and 3:30 PM Monday - Friday, and will include additional time required to attend daily AM managers briefings. Hours may include weekend and/or additional hours as business needs warrant. Scheduled breaks and lunch periods are established.Working Conditions:
Duties will primarily be performed within the Rebound machine shop area. However, exterior on-site field work may be required. Eye protection and overall safety practices and policies will be required while working in the Rebound machine shop area and while performing field duties. Uniform requirements may apply. Training of Rebound practices, policies and procedures will be provided. General duties will include (but are not limited to):- Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors and implement corrective actions as required.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, OSHA requirements, and customer or vendor safety rules.
- Ensure shop personnel operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner and adhere to all required PPE and safety practices.
- Ensure required safety training is completed, documented, and kept current for all shop personnel; personally attend all required safety training.
- Enforce compliance with established procedures, documentation requirements, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Ensure all required quality inspections are performed, verified, and properly documented by appropriate personnel.
- Verify that machines are properly set up and operated to produce accurate, repeatable results.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality issues in coordination with management.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent repeat quality issues.
- Conduct daily shop floor stand-up meetings to communicate job assignments, priorities, and production expectations.
- Ensure shop personnel have the appropriate tools, materials, and information to perform assigned work efficiently.
- Perform machining or fabrication work as needed to support production demands, labor availability, or critical job requirements.
- Ensure machines are properly cleaned after use and maintained in accordance with preventive maintenance requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve workflow.
- Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentoring to shop personnel to improve technical skills, consistency, and performance.
- Ensure new hires are properly onboarded and trained on shop procedures, documentation standards, safety requirements, and equipment operation.
- Support ongoing skill development aligned with shop needs, performance expectations, and career progression.
- Provide input and recommendations regarding employee performance, attendance, and development.
Pay:
