Job Description:

The Shop Helper will assist with day‑to‑day operations in a steel fabrication shop, supporting welders, fabricators, and shop staff with basic tasks. Duties include material handling, prepping parts, operating basic hand and power tools, cleaning and organizing work areas, and maintaining shop safety standards. This is an entry‑level position designed for individuals interested in learning fabrication processes and gaining experience in a fast‑paced industrial environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with moving, staging, and organizing raw materials and finished products.
• Use basic shop tools such as grinders, drills, saws, and measuring devices under supervision.
• Prep materials for fabrication, including deburring, cleaning, and marking parts.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping, disposing of scrap, and restocking supplies.
• Support shop personnel with general labor tasks as assigned.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in an industrial environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced shop staff.
• Basic understanding of hand tools preferred but not required.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team setting.

Work Environment:

This position works in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, heavy machinery, steel materials, and varying temperatures. PPE is required and provided by the employer.
