Part-time Position Summary:
The Part-Time Shop Mechanic & Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee the maintenance, repairs, organization, and daily operations of the company shop while ensuring trucks, trailers, equipment, and tools are fully operational and job-ready. This role is critical to keeping field operations running efficiently and minimizing downtime for crews. This individual will work closely with management and field staff to prioritize repairs, maintain organization, manage inventory, and improve overall shop efficiency. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, dependable, and looking to grow within a fast-growing company. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with equipment, staying organized, and taking ownership. We are enthusiastic about our core values which are: Accountability Quality Perseverance Results Discipline Leadership Performance Objectives Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on landscaping equipment, trucks, trailers, and small engines Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues efficiently Ensure all crews have properly functioning tools and equipment ready each day Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency throughout the shop Track and manage inventory of parts, fluids, shop supplies, and tools Coordinate repair schedules to minimize downtime for field operations Complete repairs including oil changes, tire replacements, brake work, hydraulic repairs, welding, and general equipment servicing Maintain maintenance logs and repair records Communicate with management regarding equipment needs and repair priorities Assist with loading/unloading equipment and materials when necessary Ensure safety procedures and company policies are consistently followed Help improve systems and efficiency within the shop operations Support snow equipment preparation and emergency winter repairs when needed Create a positive and accountable work environment Lead by example through professionalism, organization, and work ethic Capabilities / Key Competencies Strong mechanical knowledge of landscaping equipment, trucks, trailers, and small engines Ability to diagnose and solve problems in a timely manner Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems Welding and fabrication experience preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple repairs efficiently Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong communication skills with crews and management Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures Ability to operate landscape equipment and trucks safely Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles Measures self against standards of excellence Comfortable using technology and completing maintenance documentation Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent 2+ years of mechanical or equipment maintenance experience preferred Experience working on landscaping or construction equipment preferred Valid driver's license required CDL license is a plus Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs or more Ability to work physical hours in a shop and outdoor environment Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when needed Ability to bend, kneel, lift, climb, and stand for extended periods of time Equal Opportunity Employer As an equal opportunity employer committed to meeting the needs of a multigenerational and multicultural workforce, Double A Landscaping recognizes that a diverse staff reflective of our community is an integral and welcome part of a successful and ethical business.
