Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Help bridge communication and foster inclusivity as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting near Denton, NC! Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation in a variety of classroom and school settings. Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within schools or with children/adolescents is strongly preferred. Understanding of IEPs and willingness to collaborate with educators and other professionals. Strong communication abilities, both receptive and expressive. Commitment to ethical guidelines and confidentiality policies. Able to adapt to changing environments and student needs.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for students, staff, and teachers throughout the school day across classroom instruction and school-wide activities. Facilitate communication during meetings, presentations, assemblies, and extracurricular events as assigned. Adapt interpreting techniques to suit individual student language preferences and developmental stages. Maintain accurate records as required by school protocols. Serve as a language and cultural resource for the school community to enhance accessibility and awareness. Support students in achieving their academic and social goals.
