Full-Time Reports To:
EHS Manager / Regional EHS, Specialists 1-Lake Charles Position Summary The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs that ensure a safe workplace and environmental compliance. This role works closely with operations, leadership, and regulatory agencies to reduce risk, prevent incidents, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Environmental Compliance
  • Act as the main point of contact for environmental and safety programs.
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with EPA, PA DEP, and Ohio EPA regulations.
  • Manage hazardous waste, stormwater, universal waste, SPCC requirements, and chemical inventory.
  • Complete required environmental reporting (Tier II, TRI, GHG, emissions inventories, DMRs, Title V, etc.). Safety Compliance
  • Perform routine facility inspections and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Maintain OSHA records (300, 300A, 301).
  • Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Verify contractor safety requirements. Training & Culture Building
  • Deliver OSHA-required and site-specific safety training.
  • Oversee equipment certifications (forklift, aerial lift).
  • Lead safety committee meetings and develop safety communications. Incident Response
  • Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support return-to-work processes and track incident trends. Audits & Emergency Preparedness
  • Conduct internal EHS audits and prepare for regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and lead emergency drills. Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain SDS and chemical inventories.
  • Track KPIs and prepare EHS dashboards for leadership review. Continuous Improvement
  • Support ergonomic assessments, 5S/lean initiatives, and evaluate new technologies to reduce risk and environmental impact. Qualifications
  • Strong data management and documentation ability
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of relevant environmental/EHS experience.
  • Working knowledge of EPA, PA DEP, Ohio EPA, and RCRA regulations.
  • Experience preparing environmental reports (TRI, GHG, Tier II).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel or environmental data systems.
  • Ability to travel between sites within PA and OH.
Preferred:
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial facilities.
  • Air or water permitting experience.
  • Experience with environmental management systems
  • Certification such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Certified Environmental & Safety Compliance Officer (CESCO), etc.
