Leading as the Site Director at Roosevelt Elementary School, you'll manage a team of part-time Youth Development Professional staff to deliver engaging after school programming for an elementary school population of youth. Co-located at Roosevelt Elementary this site and Director play a key role in partnering with the school administrative leadership, teachers, other program partners, families, students, and the community at large. This site operates an outdoor, play based Playground Club, Youth Sports, and indoor after-school enrichment programming. This self-directed role involves leading a human-centered, trauma-informed club that guides the youth after school experience. As a senior leader in the organization this role is a part of building the sites club operations, outreach and community engagement, managing schedules, and influencing the culture and daily operations of the site. Reporting to the Playground Club (PGC) Manager, the Roosevelt Site Director helps manage budget, logistics, and related grant deliverables. This position works closely with other Club Directors and multiple teams in the organization. Essential Functions of the Position Leadership-Lead with intention and empathy: Serve as the primary leader of a dedicated site team leading the implementation of programming and operations. This position ensures a fun and safe site environment while establishing staff performance objectives, supervising, and evaluating each program instructor or program partner assigned to support programming. This position will manage staff learning & development, performance evaluations, and have strong coaching skills. Model best practices as the supervisor of multiple staff and develop others, serving as a mentor and coach for youth and staff.Build Community and Connection:
Foster and maintain relationships and outreach with SMMUSD staff, specifically Roosevelt's Principal and Assistant Principal. Other relationships include working with nonprofit partners, hosting corporate volunteers, and actively participating in school or community events. Must be able to develop and cultivate creative, inspiring, and meaningful partnerships for youth programming, and have an affinity for stellar customer service.Curriculum and Content Development:
Responsible for the execution of daily programming, this leader will collaborate with the PGC Manager and peer Club/site Directors to strategize and align program content at SMBGC locations. A willingness and ability to design programming, rooted in evidence-based practice, and voice of the youth is required. You will be responsible for implementing and enhancing BGCA programs focused on character development, leadership, healthy lifestyles, art, STEM, and opportunities to expose youth to workforce and career experiences.Safety & Operations:
You'll oversee and guide the Roosevelt safety requirements to align with organizational goals for environmental, physical, and emotional safety. This ranges from ensuring facilities and maintenance needs are met and up to standard (specific to the school-based site), to organizing safety drills, and hosting team meetings to educate staff on BGCA standards and practices. As a strong people leader, this role serves as the face of the site and the point of contact for escalations, feedback, and oversight of site incidents.Strategic Thinking and Scaling:
You'll be responsible for adapting content so that it is engaging, scalable, and sustainable, ensuring relevance across diverse audiences and maximizing the impact of our programs. Make data informed decisions to support both the PGC outdoor activities, site sports, and indoor afterschool enrichment programming. Support the growth of youth enrollment in all 3 programs.Continuous Improvement:
Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement, always looking for ways to enhance the effectiveness of our programs. You'll be encouraged to make decisions, even when faced with ambiguity. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting to included but not limited to grant deliverables, program evaluations, activities, events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, problems/issues. Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate B.A. or Masters in education, human services, social work, sociology, youth development, community development/organizing, nonprofit management, or related field. Broad knowledge base and understanding of Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District, youth serving nonprofits and programs dedicated to elementary youth. Training and understanding of trauma-informed practices, SEL curriculum, and motivational interviewing. An innovative and design focused mindset. Comprehensive knowledge of program planning, administrative operations, including reporting and collecting data, including the use of case management tools. Exposure to equity, diversity, inclusion, and access training or development opportunities. Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, project management, including the ability to effectively meet deadlines in a cross-functional, team-based environment. 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Bilingual or multilingual preferred but not required. Teaching credentials, City Year, AmeriCorps, Teach for America experiences are encouraged but not required.Similar remote jobs
