Job Description
Company Overview Automotive Testing and Development Services (ATDS) is a dynamic, full-service engineering and testing firm dedicated to advancing vehicle performance and safety. We collaborate with clients across North America to test and develop a wide range of vehicles, from small engines to heavy-duty trucks, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer expectations. Role Overview In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day fleet operations for a prototype electric vehicle (EV) program based at a proving ground. You'll ensure vehicles are ready for both engineering activities and on-road mileage accumulation, while supporting a small team of drivers and coordinating closely with engineering teams. This position focuses on fleet ownership and program execution, with hands-on support as needed to keep vehicles operational and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities Daily:
Manage fleet readiness, including vehicle availability, charging/fueling, and overall condition Coordinate daily activities to meet mileage accumulation and program targets Supervise and support test drivers, assigning routes and ensuring safe, compliant operation Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet-related activities on-site Track vehicle status, identify issues, and ensure timely resolution Conduct and/or verify pre- and post-drive inspections Review driver reports and ensure accurate data collection and communication Operate test vehicles as needed to support program requirements Occasionally / Periodically / Ongoing Perform inspections, basic repairs, and troubleshooting to maintain fleet readiness Support vehicle setup, test preparation, and engineering activities Coordinate larger repairs or specialized work with external vendors when required Maintain fleet organization, cleanliness, and staging within the proving ground space Support driver onboarding, training, and scheduling coverage Assist with client visits, test events, and overall program support Experience Prior experience in a lead, supervisor, or team coordination role Background in automotive, fleet operations, or vehicle testing environments Experience at a proving ground or within the automotive testing industry (preferred) Hands-on mechanical experience with the ability to perform basic diagnostics and repairs Experience with EVs or medium-duty vehicles, vans, trucks, or prototypes (preferred) Strong understanding of vehicle safety and inspection practices Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Must have own tools suitable for general automotive maintenance (preferred) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record What Sets You Apart Takes ownership of fleet performance and readiness Comfortable balancing coordination, communication, and hands-on support Proactive in identifying issues and keeping vehicles on the road How to Apply Please apply directly through Indeed by submitting your resume and a summary of your relevant driving experience.
