Site Survey and Logistics Manager Los Angeles Jazz Festival View Park, CA Job Details Contract 1 day ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Qualifications AutoCAD Sketching Outdoor work Attention to detail Vectorworks Full Job Description About the LA Jazz Festival The Los Angeles Jazz Festival will be the 3rd largest international jazz festival in the world - a city-wide celebration of jazz, community, and everything that's ever grown out of both. Free concerts in 25 parks across the region. 150 Late-night shows in places you'd only find if someone told you. A street carnival taking over Venice. Two closing nights on Dockweiler Beach with Janelle Monáe, John Legend, Poncho Sanchez, and more. About This Role We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Production Manager to lead the initial site survey's (assessments) phase for the Jazz in the Park series.
The Technical Production Manager will:
Visit the parks that have been currently approved to host the concerts. Survey the park to identify the following: Best placement for staging Best placement for audience seating Best placement for all infrastructure (restrooms, fencing, generators) Best ingress/egress points for our closed fencing. Parking options Flagging any issues with topography concerns (large divots, hills, existing fencing, poles, park utilities, etc) Other key production elements as needed. Place your basic observations onto a google earth overlay (can be basic handwritten or created in google slides) Report your findings to our Technical Autocad Designer, who will utilize your drawings to place it into Vectorworks/Autocad for our production teams and city officials. Key Notes The festival has already initiated scout conversations with LA County and Parks & Recreation teams; your role is to translate those preliminary conversations into actionable technical data. You will be the "boots on the ground," gathering the precise measurements and logistical insights needed for our technical designer to draft final ground plans for city approval. The Goal To conduct comprehensive site visits across 25 scouted park locations (note we are seeking multiple team members to support), documenting every physical and technical variable required to produce a world-class outdoor concert experience.
Key Responsibilities Site Surveying & Measurement:
Capture exact dimensions for stage placement, FOH (Front of House), and backstage footprints.
Infrastructure Mapping:
Identify and document existing power sources (and gaps requiring generators), water access, and permanent restrooms.
Logistics Planning:
Evaluate parking capacity for production loads and public transit accessibility; scout locations for talent holding and production offices (indoor or temporary structures).
F&B Strategy:
Identify optimal zones for food truck placement, considering power needs, level ground, and crowd flow.
Site Line Analysis:
Ensure optimal viewing angles for the public while maintaining clear egress and safety corridors. Deliverables For each site, you will provide a standardized "Site Tech Pack" including: High-resolution photo gallery (marked up for context). Detailed site report covering power, plumbing/ sprinkler system, and indoor access. Preliminary rough sketch/notation for the Technical Designer.
Qualifications Local Expertise:
Deep familiarity with Los Angeles geography and the nuances of working with Southern California municipal agencies.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to read/interpret site maps and use basic surveying tools (laser measures, clinometers, etc.).
Outdoor Production Experience:
Proven track record in large-scale outdoor festivals, specifically within public park environments.
Problem Solver:
Ability to look at an empty field and anticipate drainage issues, power bottlenecks, or "bottleneck" crowd flow areas.
Project Timeline Location:
Various sites across Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Orange Counties.
Duration:
Immediate start through late spring/early summer.
Festival Dates:
August 7-23, 2026.
Future:
