Skating Director Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department Larchmont, NY Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Seasonal $30 - $40 an hour 11 hours ago Qualifications Operations management Facilities management Sports coaching Schedule management Swimming Full Job Description The Director of the Skating School will oversee, manage, and administer the youth, adult, and competitive figure skating programs for the ice rink. This role involves overseeing the daily functions of the Skating School. Skating School includes group lessons, private lessons, freestyle sessions, competitions, clinics, camps, & ice shows programs. The Director will oversee these programs directly and in partnership with operational and professional staff members, ensuring smooth logistics and delivery. As a Skating School Director at an ice rink, your responsibilities would encompass a range of managerial, instructional, and administrative duties as follows: 1.
Curriculum Development:
Design and develop skating programs tailored to various skill levels and age groups, ensuring they align with industry standards and cater to the needs of the local community. 2.
Instruction:
Lead and oversee skating instruction, including teaching basic to advanced skating techniques, figure skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating. Provide personalized feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their skills. 3.
Staff Management:
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate skating instructors and administrative staff. Ensure that all staff members adhere to safety protocols and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment. 4.
Scheduling:
Develop and maintain class schedules, private lesson schedules, and ice time allocations. Coordinate with other departments within the ice rink to optimize facility usage and accommodate various programs and events. 5.
Customer Service:
Address inquiries from prospective and current students, parents, and guardians. Resolve any concerns or issues promptly and professionally to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. 6.
Marketing and Promotion:
Develop marketing strategies to attract new students and retain existing ones. Utilize various channels such as social media, email newsletters, and local advertising to promote skating programs, events, and special promotions. 7.
Financial Management:
Monitor enrollment numbers and adjust program offerings as needed to meet financial targets. 8.
Event Coordination:
Organize and oversee skating competitions, exhibitions, and other special events hosted by the ice rink. Coordinate with coaches, judges, and other stakeholders to ensure successful and well-executed events. 9.
Facility:
Collaborate with the ice rink's facilities management team to ensure that the skating area and related facilities are well-maintained, clean, and safe for use. 10.
Professional Development:
Stay current with industry trends, coaching techniques, and safety standards by attending workshops, conferences, and certification programs. Encourage and support staff members in pursuing professional development opportunities. 11.
Community Engagement:
Foster positive relationships with the local community and skating organizations. Explore opportunities for partnerships and collaborations to expand the reach and impact of the skating school. 12.
Risk Management:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize the risk of injuries during skating activities. Maintain proper documentation and incident reporting procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. In addition, the skating director will also oversee the placement of skaters into appropriate classes and levels. Assign, schedule, and supervise coaching staff. Assist with program registration, including supporting families through the enrollment process and coordinating with rink staff to ensure accurate class rosters and smooth session starts.
